10 Healthy Habits that take little effort to do

10 Healthy Habits that take little effort to do

by Sadie Tollberg

1.) Make it a habit to only eat while sitting at a table. This is a mental trigger that can help you to know when its appropriate to eat and when it's not. Sometimes we have mindless snacking when we are places like our desk or car. This will help to retrain that habit.

2.) Drink a glass of water when you first wake up. If you struggle with water this will help greatly. It wakes up the digestive tract and will make all of your first food and drinks of the day go much smoother.

3.) Park your car towards the back of the parking lot. Give yourself a few extra steps in each day this way!

4.) Use smaller plate and bowls when you eat. It tricks your brain into thinking there is much more food than there is!

5.) Place your goals and dreams on sticky notes and place them around your home. In the bathroom or in the kitchen are great places to start. They can be inside cabinets or somewhere guests wont see them. But expert tip: let your guests see them so they can support your goals and you might just inspire them to do the same!

6.) Never go to the grocery store hungry! Make sure you have a snack or meal before you go. Stick to your list and buy with intention. Studies show when you're shopping hungry you buy more!

7.) Join accountability groups on social media or in person. You will find strangers are much more supportive than people you know. Browse the photos and guides to gain info and insight!

8.) While sitting in a car or in meetings, flex muscle groups and hold for 10 seconds. Start with calves, then move your way up your body. Do as many times as you wish.

9.) Focus on posture. Put a reminder in front of you to do this. Eat sitting up straight, breathe from your diaphragm and practice the natural spine alignment when walking.

10.) Invest in a good water jug or bottle. You are more likely to drink from it if you like looking at it and its fun to fill up! Some have built in speakers, or great words of affirmation on it! Shop around!

Try these out and see how you feel! It really is a compound effect of small changes that add up to big ones. You can only eat an elephant one way... One bite at a time. Go get it!
